TURUA TOWN BOARD.

ADJUSTMENT CONTBOVERSY. COUNTY COUNCIL’S' DECISION. The reading of the Turua Town Board’s decision at its last meeting deciding not to agree with the Council’s proposals for adjustments caused a brief discussion at the, Hauraki Plains County Council meeting at Ngatea on Monday. The clerk (Mr. E. Walton) read the Town Board’s communication. Cr. Death: We will just continue control of; the main roads. Mr. Walton: We will collect the general rate levied by the Council, and what is over after our general expenditure will be available for ri-orks within the Town Board district. Cr. Parfitt moved “That the Council, is unanimously of the opinion that the .agreements comply exactly with the understanding come to with the Turua Town Board, and that this Council would be pleased tp know in what particular the agreements are at fault.” Cr. Chatfield seconded, and the motion was carried. Mn Walton suggested that, the Gov-ernor-General should be asked to grant an arbitrator to consider each body’s responsibilities. If the Boar! did not want to come to any agresment the Council would carry on in the ordinary way. On Cr. Mayn’.s, motion it was decided to withhold the rate notices until after che next meeting.
