At a special meeting of the Waikato Presbytery held yesterday iu Morriusville a unanimous and hearty call to the parish of Foxton in favour of the Rev. F. McDonald was received and accepted. The Pacific Cable Board announces that owing to the largo increase in week-end traffic it is not expected that delivery in the United Kingdom of all such, messages will be effected before Wednesday of the following week, possibly later. Senders should lodge week end messages as early as possible. The bad state of some of the roads between Ngatea and. Paeroa was forcibly impressed on the Paeroa footballers who made the trip to Ngate,a last Saturday. The team travelled in a Ford char-a-banc, and so bad were some parts of the road that not infrequently the team had to get out and push (good scrum practice). On the return journey the bus went, so deep into one hole that the number plate and tail light were broken completely off. At a Te Aroha school a few days ago several budding politicians addressed their fellow scholars. The candidates for “Parliamentary” honours represented Labour, Government, and Independent. The b,allot resulted as follows : Government 8. Independent 30,Labour 13. The lads showed a surprising knowledge of public affairs. and the candidates, were literally bombarded with questions. Some of the latter were answered neat’y and tactfully, while others were ignored in a manner typical of the methods adopted in our very own Parliament. The Independent candidate was Master Faulkner Bush, recently of the Paeroa District High Schoo’, a fifth standard boy, while the other two candidates were from the sixth standard. Mr W.
