The Patetonga i, building is of the same size and de-’ sign as the Ngatea structure. ■ ■ NGATEA. ; -- CONCERT. Postponed from Thursday evening,; the Ngatea Mutual Improvement So-., ciety’s concert was held on Friday.; under ideal conditions. The hall was ?, well filled, and the large was well pleased with the programme., submitted to them. The last portion ■ of the programme was occupied by asketcl. entitled "The Wrong Flat." ■ Included in the characters werp a ' valet (Mr. Crighton), his master, a yov.ng solicitor (Rev. R. G. Hemmings), Ethel, the solicitor’s fiancee ; (Miss M. Norris), Ethel’s parents . (Miss M. P. Smith and Mr, W. Wright), an EngHslu wife of a Frehchman (Miss E. Jones), and the gesticulating Frenchman himself (Mr. piphouse). The musical portion of the programme, supplied mostly by local ’ talent, was of good quality, most of the items being encored. The following contributed: Mesdames Clark, . Hendren, and Wheeler, Misses E. Jones R. Hilford, E. Hilford, M. Nor- ; ris, Messrs C. W. Schultz, Jenkins, Wright, H. A. Shaw; and Crichton. A dance was held hfter the concert and the total proceeds, realised was over £9, part of which is tp be devoted to the Society’s (funds and. the remainder given to the inauguration of a public library. • . THE POST OFFICE. The new Ngatea post , office is no w taking shape, the framework being erected, and it should npt be long before the old “dog box;” will be vacated. ■ The old post office, it is understood, is the property of the settlers, and is to be used later as a public library.
