ELECTRIC POWER BOARD

MONTHLY REPORTS. MANAGER'S REPORT. The manager reported as follows to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board meeting on Tuesday last: Mr. Gauvain and the writer interviewed the Ohinemurj Gas Company with reference to their claim for gas through damage to theip mains. The matter was fully discussed, and apparently the main were pierced on both sides. I consider the claim is quite in order, and is brought forward this day for payment. The current was switched on al Tirau during the month.; also at Waharoa. With reference to low voltage at Peria, for which complaint is before you this day, I beg to advise that the Public Works Department lias increased the voltage by 5 per cent., and since this has been adjusted toe supply is, I understand, satisfactory. Street lights are now erected in Matamata, and it is anticipated that the balance to be completed will be in operation during the next week.. Owing to the demand for farms and others to be ponnected to the Board’s mains it has been necessary to engage four extra wiremen in the Board’s territory. A matter that will have to be considered by the Board is the substitution of huts or other conveniences in lieu o-j tents. Tents are not satisfjacn torv in Te Aroha district owingto the gales and the impossibility of obtaining sufficient shelter. The damage to tents has been very considerable during the past six weeks, and I would like to bring this matter before you. Occupation of the new offices was taken on May 20. The Piako County Council, will be occupying theirs on June G. Mr. Gilchrist is drawing up lease of same for the Board’s seal. Temporary shut-down, happened at Horahora about midnight on the 22nd. This did not affect the Board’s service in any way. The cause was due to the high-tension telephone wire interfering with .the 50,000-volt. line. This was repaired in one hour from the time the shut-down happened. I The iron shed used as a. store-room has now been concreted, and. is in readiness for the mechanic when appointed. j ENGINEERS:’ REPORT. The single cir-. cuit 11,000 volt lines on the Whare-t poa block have been completed and the low-tension lines are well in hand. As soon as this wiring gang has finished this section it is proposed to transfer it to the Netherton section for the wiring-up of the lines in that district.
