The ‘ Matamata Record” states that Me. C. Coote now manager of the Dank of New Zealand at Waiuku and formally of Tc A'l’ioha, has been appointed manager of the Matamata branch as successor to Mr. S. T. Uren. In his day Mr. Coote was one of the most prominent (footballers in tl.e Goldfields Union,, .and until about five years ago was oji the active list in Tc Aroha.
“Miner” writes to the "Tauranga Times” as follows: “I understand that traces of gold have been founl in various parts of the district and that a little prospecting is going on. Would it not be in the interests c,f the district for a deputation to wait on the Minister of Mines (Hon. G. J. Anderson) during his visit here, and urge that more liberal assistance to prospectors should be given by" the Government ?”
