CHAMBER OF COMMERCE.
Sir, —In supporting Mr Prown’s letter of Friday which . appeared in reply to your able Header , of the Bth insti, in which particular stress was laid on the legal aspect of 'the proceedings of the Chamber, surely, Mr Editor, despite, the apostasy of three or four dissenters, you would not suggest that the Chamber of Commerce; representing as it does the Combined inteirgence of the people as leaders of thought and leaders a? united action for progress and. Empire-build-ing. should carry on its business on illegitimate 'lines ? Previously I have drawn your attention to the deviation portrayed in your report of the minutes. copies of which are held for reference. I - should that while you hold a monopoly of the press we expect an accurate report' (if. any) of the proceedings of .the Chamber of Commerce. ’
It is gratifying to realise that the more intelligent class of the community has stood by‘the Chamber of Commerce in returning its nominee (Mr D. Leach) to the head of the poll in the Borough election of Friday. - • ’ R. WHITTEN.
