REFERENCE BOARD.

DISBANDING POSSIBLE;.

STATEMENT AT NETHERTON. That the Thames Valley Reference Board would most likely break up was the statement made during an interlude in the election of officers at the annual meeting of the Nether-' ton Farmers’ Union on Saturday evening.

The matter arose when it was proposed that the representative to the Reference Board should be elected. Mr Dunlop announced that the Thames Valley Reference Board would most likely break up as the mining elements were not combining. Mr Considine said the Reference Board was really established in Netherton, and it would be a pity to let it die.

Mr Dunlop said Netherton’s cohtribuiton had been the least of any body to the Board, and was the smallest element on the Board. As far as he could ascertain the Board was practically split. The mining was up against, the organisation. Mr Munro thought that in case the Board was reformed it would be wise to elect a representative.

Mr Considine said Mr Dunlop stated that he had attended many meetings of the Reference Board, and Mr Dunlop now told the meeting that the Board was dying out. If the thing had been dying out, why hiad pot, Mr Dunlop told the settlers before ? They 'had known nothing about it until that night. Mr Dunlop suggested that the election of a representative be deferred until a later date. Mr Carter said it was an annual meeting and the election of officers should be gone on with.. Mr Hill and Mr Dunlop were nominated to represent the Netherton bran'ch of the Union on the Board. Mr Hill was ultimately elected by a majority of one vote.
