LOCAL AND GENERAL.
For the one vacancy on the Borough Council two nominations have been received, Mr D. Leach (nominated. by Messrs G. A. Wilson and J. Couper) and Mr J. W. Silcock (nominated by Messrs W, J. Towers and D. Me Watters). A poll will, be taken on Friday next, May 12.
The election of the Thames Valley Electric Power Board takes place in November or December of this year, sta’cd the secretary-manager of the Board, Mr R. Sprague, at the Board’s meeting on Tuesday. Members stated that the question of representation would have to be considered. Thames and Ohinemuri counties had two representatives each. Hauraki Plains county had no representation, being newly constituted. Ohinemuri s area had been made much .smaller since the constitution of the Board. Mr I. Price said Morrinsville was en ■ titled to direct representation, having been constituted a borough. Mr Sprague su’d the Board was limited by the Act to 12 members. It was resolved to apply (or representation on behalf of the Hauraki Plains County Council, afi&to set up a. committee to consider the question o’ the representation of other local bodies in the Board’s area.
