PASSED AWAY.

MINING PIONEER.

MR. THOMAS MeDONOUGH.

There passed away at the Thames Hospital yesterday yet another old identity of the Goldfields, in the person oC' Mr Thomas McDonough, at the age of 75.

Deceased, who had never married, was, during his early manhood), a brewer in Wanganui, and at his death he still retained property interests in that town. Having been a member of the Militia during -he Maori War, he was given a grant of land at Kakaramea near Patea. In the early days of the Goldfields Mr McDonough came to this district, and made his home at the then flourishing township of Waikino, where he was well known.

The funeral will take place on the arrival of the 10.15 a.m. train from Thames to-morrow.
