WAIKINO NEWS.
MEMORIAL SERVICE. On Sunday afternoon a. memorial service was held in the Victoria Hall for those who gave their livgs for King and country in the Great War. The Rev. E, E. Bamford officiated. His sermon was very impressive, and he spr.ke of the reason for England’s greatness and something in that spirit that goes <jO the man of the present day. The text'taken was from Isaiah, 40,th chapter, “Comfort ye, comfort ye, my people, saith your God.’’ The service began with the orchestra rendering Gloria. The hymns sung were, “O God our Help,” “Abide with me,” and “Recessional.” The last Post was sounded and the Dead March in Saul played by the j orchestra. The service concluded with “God Save the King.” Returned soldiers from Waiihi were present.
The orchestra was under the conduetoiship of Mr Claud Cater, and included Messrs Addy (violin), Ronson (clarinet), Carlypn (cornet), Pascoe (trombone), Stapleton (bass), Measures (tympan). The arranging of the Service was done by the returned soldiers of. Waikino.
