The creepy crawl over the sleepers that passes for railway travelling in New Zealand is productive of much satire by the humans who are obliged to suffer the snailway pace. It is told that a passenger travelling from Frankton to Te Kuiti complained 'to the guard that he had slept in the carriage for four hours since leaving Frankton, and still the train had not reached Te Kuiti. “You have not much to grumble about,” replied the guard; “wait until you have been on the train as long as I have, and then you may have cause for complaint” “And how long have you been on 'the train ?” asked the passenger. “It is four years since I joined the Railway service,” replied the guard. "Indeed,” responded the passenger, "then you must have come all the way from Auckland !” For Influenza, take Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. THE CAUSE OF CONSTIPATION. The most common cause of constipation is a lack of exercise necessary to keep the muscles of the bowels active. That is why constipation is often brought on by too frequent use of purgatives. They act violently, performing the work of the bowels for them, and so weaken them that they will, not act without assistance. Chamberlain’s Tablets will relieve constipation because instead of doing the work of the bowels thev gently stimulate them tp voluntary action. Their frequent use will not injure the most delicate person. Sold by all chemists and storekeepers.
