ENTERTAINMENTS.

CENTRAL THEATRE PICTURES TO-NIGHT. ‘<A GUN FIGHTING GENTLEMAN.” Harry Carey, one of the most popular. of the Universal stars, appears to-night in his lot.es« six-reel drama, “A Gun Fighting Gentleman.” Typically a Western story, it is exactly suited to the talents of the “Ace of the Saddle.” Hard riding, fast shooting, drama of tjhe clean type, it is sure to meet with a great deal of enthusiasm, if only for these qualities alone. But besides this there is a story in this picture that carinot fail to appeal to the imagination of all. TO-MORROW NIGHT. “ IDOLS OF CLAY.” All the keen sense for colourful effects and knowledge of what constitutes the real thrilling and dramatic which George Fitzmaurice displayed in “On with the Dance’’ and “The right to Love,” is said t|o be Contained in redoubled measure in his. latest Paramount production, “Idols of Clay,” to be screened tomorrow night. The story, a romance of two widely divergent worlds, was written by Ouida Bergers, and no expense, either of money or artistic effect has been spared in making it one of the most lavishly produped and spectacular pictures of the current season. THE FAMOUS N. 25. DIGGERS. THURSDAY, APRIL 6. A review of the secorid edition of the "Box o’ Tricks,” its, prograrnme, and its performers, will in a large measure serve to impress upon us the fact that* we are to be -favoured with a ” better than ever ” performance from the Famous Diggers on Thursday, April 6.. There have been ..a few changes in the-personnel of ijhe company since its last visit to this town, but If newspaper criticisms and unstinted applause are any criterion, then in the case of the 'Diggers alteration spells "tnarked improvement” The new programme is full of interesting and amusing it'pms l Frank Perryn and Stan Lawson sedie heavily in a screamingly funny musical sketch entitled “Washing the Baby.” Joe Valli, Frank Moran, Tano Fama, and Stan Lawson provoke roars ofi laughter in “ The Burlesque Fortune-teller.” The “Raw Recruits” is a r.eaily comical sketch of the military type. “The Charwoman" is a comedy sketch which Frank Perryn puts over in such a manner as to tickle the risibilities of the most unsusceptible theatregoer. The Magic Hat is a very quaint item. The Egyptian scene “ Backsheesh ” is repletfe with, comic burlesque and good songs and serves to introduce the Dance Orienale by Gus Dawson and Stan Lawson. The ' Italian impressions .oy Frank Perryn, “ The Lighthouse Keeper ” by Frank Moran,. Fred Webber’s piano’ sketches, Stan Lawson’s latest songs, the Operatic Opening Chorus, and some really splendid song hits make up h programme equal if not superior to the best this company has yet presented. The box plan is at Flatt’s.
