PAEROA RUGBY UNION.

MEETING OF COMJMITTEEI. PRESENTATION TO MR. BUSH, ' On Monday night the Paeroa Rugby Union held its final meeting, brifor© ths annual general meeting, which takes place on Monday week, April toThe meeting on Monday last was calledfor, the purpose of getting everything in readiness for the annual meeting, and also for the members to bid . farewell , to ( one of! their number, Mr G, A. Bush, who has- accepted a position whjch necessitates his leaving Paeroa. As seated above, the football business of the njeeting was in connection witlh a subsequent meeting, which will be reported in due course. THE PRESENTATION. ' In making the presentation to Mr Bush, the. chairman (Mr J.! W. Silcock), speaking on behalf of the members Of the committee, said they wished to show their appreciation of the services rendered by Mr Bush in the interests- of football in Paeroa. and.district by asking him to accept a -token of gratitude, 1 and which they hoped would, be a memento, to him of his; old- football associates in Paeroa, Mr Silcock said that Mr Bpsh had been connected with football in Paeroa for about 17 years, and had always shown himself as a man worthy of the fullest confidence. Right from the start) he had been the mains-tay of- the West Club, and that club would feel- his loss very keenly in . the future, not forgetting his worthy helpmeet, Mrs Bush. With regard to the .Union, his fellow-members were very sorry in-deed-to lose Mr Bush’s services. Mr Silcock then handed Mr Bush a gpldmounted fountain pen, on which' was inscribed “P.R.U. t0.G.A8.” (Paeroa Rugby Union to Mr G. A-. Bush)/ > In thanking -the members, Mr Bush said he was hardly deserving of the remarks made by the chairman. He had always done his best for foptr ball because his heart and. soul Was in the game, but there were times when he thought he could have done more than he did. For 15 years he ’■°or; secretary of the West .Club, and. at times had to .be. the .commFteh and holder of all offices in the club; but then he had grown to love ths West Club, and any work for its benefit was a pleasure to him. As a Union member, he did not think hewas more deserving of praise than any of the other inembers, who had all fulfilled -their duties with credit. All the same, it was u great plealSure to him to know that his services were so mrich appreciated, .and it was with very deep feeding that he thanked them for their present.

The loss of Mr Bush's .services will t be keenly felt in Paeroa football ’circles, and particularly by the West Club. As is well known, Mr Bush, has had on occasions to be the whole working committee'of the West dub) and is entitled to a very large share of the credit for making tfiatf club what it is to-day. Other cluby in the district have an opportunity of learning a very necessary lesson Ihdw members should work together for the good of their club by following the example of the West Club members. No club can expect success when tlhe members do -1101 pull together and put the Interests of their club before any other Consideration/ This is a point which is very marked in the West Club, when compared, with other clubs affiliated to the Paeroa Rugby Union, and for this characteristic the West Club is indebted to Mr Bush. '

it is indeed a bad thing for Paeroa football that Mr . Bush is leaving us, and he will be greatly missed, for we have not too many of the Arthur Bush type left, and sadly need more of them to make football what it should, be in this district.
