HAURAKI PLAINS CLUB. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting off the Hauraki Plains Athletic and Sports Club was held in the Victoria Hall, Turua, on Thursday evening, Mr G. Gray presiding. There was a fair attendance of members. Mr J. Gibson (secretary) read Che balancesheet, extracts from which have already been published in the "Gazette.” Mr Gray said that the fact that the club had made a profit of £lB showed that the club was a live body, and it was a credit to the club. A lot of the credit was due to the ladies’ committee, and the balance-sheet showed that the dances had been a big asset to the club.. The balance-sheet was adopted. Mr Gray thanked the committee for the way they had worked and stuck together. About 12 months ago the club had approached Mr Bagnall, and asked him to hand over the sports ground tb the public. The ground was one of the best on the Plains. The belt of shelter trees was a great asset to the grounds. The committee had organised working bees to clear the ground, and thanks were due tc tlhe committee and public who helped. He did no.t know how the Town Board was to be carried on, but he thought two or three sports club members should work in with' the Board. He thought .the dub should be represented on the Board as the club had the grounds at heart and desired to make it a credit to the district. The club had £7i2 18s 5d as total assets- That was a great credit to it.

Mr Gray said that while he had been president of the club he had wished to work with no bettejq com!mittee than the outgoing one. Mr Bennett congratulated Mr Gray on the manner in which he had carried out his duties during the past .year. Several suggestions were made to inaugurate boxing classes in '‘•he club, and also to work in with the football club.
