The new page had only beep at his place a week when he said to his employer: ' “Please, sir, I want, to leave.” “Why, what's the matter with you boys ?” exclaimed his master. ‘‘l’ve had four pages in two months.” “Well, sir,” explained the lad, “when you have pages you must expect leaves!” ' A HOME-THRUST. A small boy was playing marbles on the doorstep one Sunday afternoon,. when his mother came out and said, “Johnnie, I’m surprised at you, -playing marbles on a Sunday. If you want to play marbles you must go and play in the backyard.” The little boy looked rather puzzled, then he look up at his mother and asked, the question: “Mother, isn’t it Sunday in the backyard ?”
