THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto: Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 1922. RETICULATING THE PLAINS.

Residents on the Hauraki Plains will be pleased to note by the report submitted to the Thames Valley Electric Power Board yesterday that a recommendation was made for the putting on of another gang to expedite the electrical reticulation of the Plains. From the Board s point of view the Plains is goingto be the best revenue-producing farming area in the whole district, and as a commercial proposition the supply will be very profitable. It is unfortunate that the work is not even further advanced than it is at the present stage, especially in view of the fact that, this area would be extremely awkward, if not impossible, to do pole-erection on during the winter months. But with several districts clamouring for current'the Board, which has a limited monthly expenditure, must confine its activities accordingly. However, the importance of the area as a current-con-sumer is fully appreciated,, and it should not be long now before the settlers on the main roads at least will be able to utilise electricity for driving milking machinery motors, and for lighting and heating purposes. While referring to the Power Board it may not. be amiss to comment that the reorganisation recently effected has already disclosed a marked improvement in the amount of work accomplished in proportion to the expenditure. The Board has got down to a thoroughly businesslike basis, having cut out all overlapping of authority, and evolved an effective costing system. On the present shewing, it is safe to predict that the present year will be one prolific of much progress, and that the results will be commensurate with the expenditure.
