KOMATA REEFS. EUCHRE AND DANCE. A very pleasant evening was spent •: euchre and dancing os, Saturday. There was keen competition in the euchre, but Mrs P. Ryan again carriel off tlie> lady's prize, while Mr J. Bennie won the gentleman’s. A - most delightful exhibition of Scottish dancing was given by Miss R. Lange, of Auckland. Miss Lange is a gold medallist of no “mean merit, and is certainly a clever exponent of her art., The floor was well filled for dancing, the time passing only too quickly to terminate the pleasant gathering. SAWMILLING. Sawmilling is now in (full swing at Komatla Reefs. T|he mi.ll is. situated on Mr Morrison’s flarm, and the whir of machinery, the bullocks, the teams of horses, etc., give quite a busy ap-' pearance to the lower end of the gully. ( The bush consists of Totara, rimu, tawa, and a few kauris, but other varieties, I understand, are also being milled. Rain was certainly needed, but hardly welcome under the conditions in which it visited this week. Strong gales accompanied the torrential downpour, which together severely damaged the crops and fruit.
