WAIKINO NOTES.
. ("Gazette” Correspondent.) ' / TENNIS. On Saturday last the return match was played at Waikirio between the Waihi team and Waikino team. The day was perfect for the occasion, and the court was in splendid order. The play commenced- at 10.30 a.m., luncheon and afternoon tea being provided on the court. A good number of spectators was present to witness the match-, which was very interesting all through. The following are the results, Waihi names being mentioned first: Ladies Singles.—Miss Cornthwaite 6 v.. Miss L. Rohan 4 ; Miss Landy 3 v. Miss Vercoe 2; Mi's Coutts 6 v. Miss Macken 3; Miss Taylor 6 v. Miss Lloyd 3. Combined Doubles.—Miss Conthwaite and Willcox 7 v. Miss Rohan and Gallaher 4 ; Miss' Landy and Hinton 7 v. Miss Vercoe and Keohan 4 ; Mrs Coutts and Hicks 5 v Miss Mack? en and Wade 7; Men’s Singles.—Taylor 3 v. Johnson 9 ; Chappell 5 V. Stoddart 7. Men’s Doubles.— Taylor and Chap-< pell 3 v. Johnson and , Stoddart 9 Hicks and Hinton 9 v. Wade and Keohan 6 ; Williams and Willpox 7 7. Gallagher, and Watson 6. The hon secretary of the Waikino Tennis Club is Mr P. E. Keohan.
