TURUA. WEIGHT-GUESSING. The following are the results of weight-guessing competitions in connection with the recent sports held at Turua under th© auspices of the Hauraki Plains Athletic, and Sports Club: Tin of Honey.—Mrs H. Green <47y 2 lb) 1. Sheep (89%1b).—A. Middleton (90-. lb) 1, Mrs C, Scott (8836 lb) 2. Bullock (7601b),—F. Olsen (7841 b 1, W. Cheale (735%1b)2. EXCEPTIONALLY HIGH TIDE. An exceptionally high spring tide was seen at Turua yesterday morning, when the water rose almost level .with the top of. the wharf. In the boardinghouse grounds the water had formed a lake almost entirely encircling the house, and it was an .extremely difficult matter to walk from the road to the boardinghouse witnout wetting one’s shoes. The water at some places round the establishment was several inches deep!
PIPIBOA. FINGER POSTS. There is a great necessity for a finger post at Dalgety’s Corner. Quite a number of motor cars, whose drivers are not conversant with the road, have gone on to Pipiroa when they should have turned up to Ngate.a. It is believed that the Lands Depart ment. will shortly proceed with the erection of finger posts at important points.
