HAURAKI PLAINS SHOW.

TO-MORROW’S ARRANGEMENTS. PREPARING FOR A BIG DAY. 1 This week has been an exceptionally busy one for the officials of the Hauraki Plains A. and P. Association, in making everything ready for tomorrow, the day of the association’s second annual show. The grounds have been- put in order, the grass having been cut and stacked and the horse and cattle accommodation fixed up. For a body so young, the associai tion members and officials are imbued with an exceptionally fine spirit of enthusiasm and judgment, recognising that the present-day conditions demand improved dairy herds, and that it is one of the objects of an agricultural and pastoral association to stimulate the breeding of pure stock, the committee modified, last year’s schedule by confining the cattle classes almost entirely to dairy stock.. In other classes decided improvements ■have been made. Ataateur cattle judging competitions were added this year, and excetpionally handsome prizes have been allocated to those events.

The entries for .all classes, considering the present conditions, are verv creditable, and from exhibitors who can be relied on to exhibit good_ animals. There are 267 horse and 195 cattle entries, making a total .of 462. The horticultural and industrial section has been receiving consider-, able attention, and the hall is being decorated by the chief steward, Mr H. M. Norris, with flags kindly' lent by the Northern SS. Company. Mr W. J, Clare, who .undertook to erect benches and tables in, the hall, Is doing his work thoroughly. ' At the association’s request the Thames Valley Power Board'is making an interesting display on the grounds. Especially as the time is not. very far distant when everything on the Plains will be electrical, this display will be of particular interest to settled. The custody of tlie refreshment booth has been given to Mr D. A., Vincent Luncheon is,being provided for the judges and officials in the school. In the evening the judges will be entertained to light refreshment, wlien it is hoped they will be induced to give a few words of advice. Special motor-car trips will be made between Paeroa and the show grounds throughout the day.
