A BRIGHTER TONE. A brighter tone among buyers prevailed at the Hikutaia stock sale on Wednesday (Farmers’ Copp. Auction-, eering Co., Ltd.). Observers of the market state that beef cattle were fetching 10s apiece higher than they were quite recently. The following true a few of the prices : Fat cows, £3 7s 6d to £4 7s 6d ; store cows, 37s 6d; bullocks, £7 2s 6d to £8 12s 6d; fi'esh-conditioned cows, £2 5s ; bulls, 30s to £2 7s 6d; 15 to 18-months-old steers, in good condition, 355.
