LOAN POLL CARRIED
BY ONE-FIFTH OF A VOTE.
THE OFFICIAL COUNT.
The official count of the Plains County machinery loan proposal!-, was conducted. ■at Ngatea on Wednesday by the returning officer,' Mr E. Walton. The result of the count gives a majority of one-flftih of a vote in favour of! the proposals, the number of votes for being declared as 398 and the number against 265. The, proposals wjll therefore‘be carried. A three-fifths majority is required. The following .are the correct details of the voting: For Against Informal
/cial results it is found that the Thames result has been changed from 5 for and 6 against to 6 for and 4 against. The Vatetonga returns in the provisional count were 28 for, 51 agaihst, and 2 informal, while the official declaration is 29 for, 49? against, and 1 informal.,' it is seen, therefore, that at Thames the votes opposing the- loan have been reduced by two. At Patetonga it seems evident that one informal vote has been, declared valid and for the loan', while the votes opposing it have been reduced by two. Five’ votes, therefore, appear to have been affected, just sufficient to give a small majority in favour of the loan being carried. The Turua roading proposals remain unaltered. .
