THE NGATEA HALL.

MEETING OF COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the Ngatea Hall Committee was held in the hall on Wednesday evening, the' following bers attending: Messrs G. T., Davidson (chairman), S. Phillipps, W. G. Hayward. W. J. Clare, and C. Mellor (secretary). Mr Davidson reported, that the committee’s decision to prevent smoki ing had had a good effect on the first night. Mr Clare said that on the second night atfer the decision some men had been seen smoking. The committee men were' of the opinion that firm, steps should be taken to enforce their decision.

In order to meet lighting expenses of the hail it was decided to charge 2s for the use of the. hall for evening church) services. '

The chairman and secretary were authorised to arrange to extend the insurance on the hall another £2OO. The Hauraki Plains A .and P. Association was granted the use of the h,a1.l for Show day and evening, Feb-, ruary 18. PICTURE ENTERTAINMENTS'. Mr H. A. Hamilton, picture proprietor, wrote, offering two benefit nights during the year. Excepting a small deduction for running expenses the entire proceeds would be handed to the hall committee. A letter from a person contemplating installing a moving picture plant in the hall asked a price for a lease of the hall for 12 months. With regard to the latter communi-

cation it was decided to write to the applicant that as the committee’s term of office’ was practically at an end they-could make no decision. It was decided to thank Mr HamiG ton for his. kind offer and -ask if he would consider giving one benefit before the annual meeting. It was decided to hold' an pfficial opening of the new hall enlargements. THE ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Hall Committee was fixed for Saturday, March 25, at 8 p.m.
