DRAINAGE MATTERS.
THE HAURAKI BOARD.
A meeting of the Hauraki Drainage Board was held in Turua yesterday, the following attending: Messrs G. Gray (chairman), J. Mules, R. Baker, D. G. 'McMillan, R. H. Heappey, and j. E. Green (secretary). It was reported that a concrete flood-gate at Mrs Lindsay’s outlet had been completed since the last meeting. The work had been done very satisfactorily by Mr J. McConnell.
Tenders had been called for deepening and .widening. No. 6 drain, Northern area. This faork had been completed at 17s per chain, one of the cheapest contracts let by the board since the war. OUTSTANDING RATES.
The .secretary reported that outstanding rates paid this year amounted to £243 2s 9d. Arrears still out-j standing w.ere £llB 18s. 5d general rates and £33 9s 9d special rates. Of this year’s rates £147 14ls lOd general and £BO 6s 4d special rates had been collected. This year’s outstanding rates were £786 14s 8d general and £631 12s 6d special rates.
The secretary was instructed to take steps to collect the unpaid rates. Rates totalling £5l 13s 3d were written off the books. These were the only rates ever struck out by the board
