monthly meeting. The usual monthly meeting of the above bocfy was held yesterday afternoon. The chairman, Mr A. R. Robinson, presided," and the following members were present: Crs. ,P- Grace, W. Johns ton A. McGuire, J. Johnson, S. Morgan, and the county clerk, Mr R. W. Evans. WEDDING PRESENT.With reference tp the shilling subscription for the wedding present tc H.R.H. Princess Mary it was resolved, on the chairman’s motion, seconded by Cr. McGuire, that the subscription list be opened and kept at the County Chambers and that the matter be advertised. 1 PARLIAMENTARY TOUR. With reference to the allocation of expenses, as decided by the Parlia-i mcntary Delegation Committee, Cr Grace said he did not think it, Quite fair. He ? considered that the Hauraki County and the Boroughs should pay more and that the Ohinemuri and Piako Counties should not pay s 0 much. Cr Morgan said that he was up against the proposition. He could not see what possible good would, be derived In any case the Hauarki Plain s ’. County should pay 50 per cent, of the cost. It could not dp any good, even if they did show them over the Ohinemuri County. The proportion of cost as suggested was outrageous. The Chairman: You did not make any protest when the matter came before .the Council before, Cr. Morgan’ Cr.' Morgan; I don’t remember the matter coming up, and would like to see the minutes. Cr Grace said that he was prompted to help, thinking that it would strengthen the matter pL the PaeroaPokeno railway proposition. The chairman said he differed from both Crs. Grace and Morgan. If the Paeroa-Pokeno railway was put through it would benefit Ohinemuri a very great deal. Ho certainly thought it was going to be of advantage to this county. The Parliamentary tour was going to be a good thing for the district. Cr. Johnson said he would be in favour of the matter if the delegation was going to see the whole, district. Cr. W. Johnstone said that as the proposer of the original motion, to . co-operate with the other, local -bodies, he had no idea it . was going to cost £3OO, especially when the cars were provided free. The chairman moved that this Council considers that the fairer Allocation would be as suggested at the ( first meeting of delegates, namely, that each local body should pay the expenses of the party within its own area. Seconded by Cr. Grace, andvcarried. The sum of £2, preliminary expenses, was passed for payment. ‘ TENDER VOR HAY. 1 The tender of M. Goonan for the supply of hay to the abattoirs at £8 per ton was accepted. INTEREST ON ACCOUNTS. - The Waihi Borough wrote declining to pay interest on the outstanding accounts, but promising, to forward cheque at an early date.y ) Cr. Morgan moved that the Council insist on the interest being paid. This ' was seconded by Cr. W. Johnstone and carried ROADS WANTED. T. H. McLean wrote asking for the road between his farm and Mr Brown’s (sec. 21 and 21), Waitawheta, to be opened up and offering to ; make the approach. The request was acceded to, nptice to •be given to Mr Brown to remove the fence across the road. H. F. Marlow wrote urging the Council to improve the track from the Waitekauri Road to -his section. It was decided to inform Mr Marlow that so' far. the Council had no authority tp spend money op this track. < .NO LIABILITY. Mrs F. Sutton, “The Pines,” Waikino', wrote asking to have a bridge repaired leading to her section. It was resolved to inform Mrs Sutton that as this was a. private bridge the Council could not expend any money on it. AID TO PROSPECTING. Barnett and Falvey, Rotokohu,. applied for a further three months’ aid for prospecting on the Rptokohu watershed. It was decided to recommepd the application for z favourable considerai tion of the Minister for Mines. REBATE. The following resolution was received from the Waimea County Council: /‘That the Government be urged to amend the Rating Act by inserting a clause enabling local bodies to make .a rebate of 5 per, cent, to all persons paying their general rates within 30 days from the dace , on which such rates, become due.” The chairpian moved that the Council support the resolution. Seconded by Cr. W. Johnstone antr carried. MILL ROAD. tl was resolved that as soon as the money (£1 foi; £1) was paid in by the settlors' of Mill Road that the engineer and Cr. W. Johnstone be authorised to have the Government grant of £54 spent. MAGAZINE KEEPER’S REPORT. 'The magazine keeper reported as follows: x ( Magazine.—l6o cases of explosives were issued, and 150 cases received. Storage fees', £8 18s lid. Abattoirs.—64 cattle, 204 sheep, 41 lambs, 5 pigs, and 2 calves, were slaughtered. Fees received, £59 9s Id. Cemetery.—Two interments. Foes, £2 10s. Summary for Years 1921,. Magazine.—lo4s cases of explosives were Issued. Storage £B4 Ils lOd. An increase of 564 cases issued and of revenue £49 12s 3d. {Abattoirs. —844 cattle, 2444 sheep, 44t lambs, 127 pigs, 24 calves. An increase of 54 cattle, 324 sheep, 101 lambs, 35 pigs, and of revenue £99ri9.
