DISTRICT NEWS.
TUBUA. CHILDREN’S SPORTS CREDIT, j The accounts for the children’s sports gathering, held on January 2, have been made up and show a credit of £lO. This state of affairs reflects on the good management of the sports club and the splendid support obtained from the residents off the district. SCHOOL PICNIC. It is understood that a sum exceeding £2O is in hand for the school picnic fund. Most schools have had this summer’s picnic, but Turua has’been a bit backward in this direction, and so for no children’s outing under the auspices of the school committee has been held tjiis summer. Perhaps it is the committee’s intention to hold a picnic at Easter. HAND PILEDRIVER. The Turua residents no doubt are pleased that the work on .their new wharf is being pushed ahead, but they do noi appreciate antiquated methods. The piledriver is han’dsdriven and, it is contended, quite inadequate t'd com;plete the work in a reasonably short time. With the exception of .this out-of-date method of pile driving work at the wharf appears to be proceeding satisfactorily, NGATEA. PERSONAL. Mr Jamieson arrived yesterday to take up 'his duties as headmaster at the Ngatea school.
