ENTRIES CLOSE SATURDAY.

With the closing date for entries drawing near the intending exhibitors ; in the Hauraki, Plains Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s Shbw on - February 18 are making themselves busy preparing, for. the event. The schedules have all been issued, and . the secretary (Mr E. Walton) states that he will be- greatly assisted' if entries are sent in early. The association has had a particularly good response in the form of ■ donations from the business men and others in the district and in Paeroa, Thames, and Auckland. A glance through the schedule shows the gen-i erous gifts, the most valuable of which are pedigree Friesian and Pedigree Jersey bulls, presented by Messrs W. H. Bayliss' and G. T. David- • son, respectively. The Jersey bull is, valued at 100 guineas. These prizes are for cattle-judging competitions, Mr Davidson’s prize being for crti.ildreii under 16 years of agei. . These . beasts have notable pedigrees., Colantha Milkmaid Johann, by Domino Van Lee (1522)—Colantha Milkmajd (1789 Vol; 5). Domino Van Lee, by King of Domino (297)— Nancy Lee of Cliffside. Colantha Milkmaid, by Colantha Pietertje Count de Kd (imp. U.S.A.)—Milkmaid of Brundee (imp; 186)., Kasper’s Energy, by Kasper (3212) —Carranza’s Peggy (7771). Kasper, by K.C.B. (imp. 45)—Sweet NelL Carranza’s Peggy, by Carranza (3274)— Peggy’s Nancy (5440). K.CjB. wa,s one of the most fam.ous bulls import-i ed into the country. The valuable prizes offered are calr ■ culated to attract good entries. The settlers should be specially interested in the cattle-judging competition,; , ' and to help this along the Jersey Breeders’ Association has decided to , give demonstrations at Turua (10.30 a.m.) and .at Ngatea (1.30 p.m.) on . Friday.
