THE Hauraki Plains Gazette. With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto : Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. FRIDAY, JANUARY 27, 1922. JERSEY BREEDERS.

Enthusiasm for their favourite type of cattle needs to be shewn, in a co-operative way by the Jersey breeders in'this district. In Canterbury, and other localities regular meetings, lectures, demonstrations, and social gatherings are held throughout the year. Such activity, which might come under the heading of “boost arid propaganda,” must result, in a more widespread appreciation of the Jersey, an enhancement in values, .better pedigree sales, and—most important of all—a higher standard of knowledge of the good and bad points of. cattle, indicating the way to all-round improvement. The local Thames Valley Jersey Breeders’ Club, which holds its meetings at Paeroa, provides the focussing point for all Jersey fanciers in the district, and should be supported by dairymen bf Paeroa, Waihi, Tirohia, Waikino, Netherton, Hikutaia, Kerepeehi, Ngatea, Turua, Waitakaruru, Kopuarahi, Pipiroa, Kaihere, Patetonga, Tahuna, and other centres. Next year the club, if sufficiently supported, might well hold a pedigree sale, the first of annual fixtures such, as have proven so successful elsewhere. Co-operation, individual energy, and enthusiasm and practical help in the affairs of the club will handsomely repay Jersey breeders, but this service must be rendered before rewards will be forthcoming.
