“THE WHITE PIGEON.”
GRATEFUL MOTHER REPAYS. A 32WEAR-OLD DEBT. A thirty-two-yean-old debt of grati-, tude has just been paid. At the Great Northern Hospital, Holloway, Loudon, there called recently an old, white haired woman, carrying with her two bags containing sums of £3O and £5O. It appears that 32 years ago a small, sickly child of two was admitted to a ward of the hospital. He was so small and white that the nurses called him the “White Pigeon.” When he was well he left, ■ and tire hospital never aaw him again. But the “White Pigeon” remembered. Recently he died, and his mother decided that the hospital which had been so kind to him so 'long ago should have a practical idea of his and her gratitude. So she came up from Southend-on-Sea with the bags of! money. “She told me that the boy had saved up t'he money himself,” said the matron of the hospital. “She wanted £5O to go to the maintenance fund and the rest to be divided among the patients.” „ Latest Designs at Lowest Prices at the "Gazette” Office.
