At a meeting at Patetonga on Mom day evening Mr E. Walton, Hauraki Plains County Clerk, stated that of £7OOO of rates struck only £lOOO had been received to date.

The dates for receiving pigs in this district are advertised in the N.Z. Co-op. Bacon Co.’s advertisement on page three of the “Gazette” to-day. Paeroa, Hikutaia, and Ngatea dates are given.

Full accounts of the meetings held at Ngatea, Turua, and Pate'tonga on Monday in reference to loan proposals were circulated over the Hauraki Plains yesterday in the form of -an advance report.

Ah all-night telephone service for Paeroa is advocated by some people, but enquiry has elicited the informal tion that there must be 151 subscribers or more before such a service can be obtained. Paeroa connexions total fewer than 140 altogether, and as each party-line 'counts for only one in respect to an all-night service, the number is considerably below requirements.
