TURUA. THE NEW WHARF. Several more men have been sent to work on the erection of the new wharf at Turua, and more timber arrived on Saturday, so it appears that the work will soon be pushed ahead. The contractor, Mr Foote, informed a Turua resident that he means to make a definite start this week. THE ORONGO WHARF. The work of extending the OrongJ wharf is nearing completion. The ex-t tension of this wharf will be of great convenience to the Or'ongo settlers, as previously boats had experienced difficulty in tying alongside that; wharf when the tide was low. THE VETERINARIAN CLUB. Dr. Jensen commenced his duties with the Hauraki Plains Veterinarian Club last Monday, and is now resident at Turua. During the short time he has been engaged by the club he has been kept particularly busy, proving that the formation of such a club has been essential and was not a matter to be delayed. NGATEA. HALL COMMITTEE’S DANCES. Though this is the middle of summer the weekly dances organised by the Ngatea Hall Committee are being kept up and are/well patronised by the young folk. The dances also prove to be a good source of revenue for the committee funds, about £1 10s being the average weekly profit. Last Friday’s function was well attended and about 30 couples danced to the music of Mr Rountree, Mr S. Phillipps acting as M.C. ECCLESIASTICAL. The, ..first night church service held in Ngatea was Conducted last evening by the Rev. A. Blakemore, who is resident in Ngatoa. The night services, it is understood, are to eventuate every fortnight. It was mentioned at the Hall Committee meeting on Saturday evening that the present Ngatea post office is .on a church site.
