PAEROA V. THAMES* A friendly match was played with the Thames team on Monday last, resulting in a win for Thames by 75 runs. The game was most interesting, although only five Paeroa players journeyed to Thames, the remainder of the team being made up of Thames players. This was extremely hard on those players who did make the trip, and is by no means a credit to those who, had promised to turn up but did not. . Practically all interest was of courstMost in tr.e game, and it was particularly ha>-d on the Thames players who had. sacrificed their day to give the Paeroa men an enjoyable outing. Thames batted first and made 75, A'llchin (13) and Murray (28) being the main scorers. Martin bowled wel* and took 5 wickets for 12 runs, Halll- ; day 2 for 16, Shand 2 for 15, and Piv-. ott 1 for 23. Paeroa in their first venture mr.de 142, Halliday (36),-O’Brien (24), Dare (24), Shand (11), and Pivott (10) being the chief scorers. Halliday was most unfortunate, as he ■ was playing brilliantly when he -was runout.' In Thames ■second innings matters went the reverse way flor the visiting i players, who seemed tired out on account of the heat and previous stnsnuHoes innings, Thames compiled the fine score of 172, Hitching (42), Randrup (33), Brokensjiire (23), G. G'ibsqn. (19), and Ricket (18) being the chieT : scorers. F. Dare took 2 wickets for 39 runs, Lanigan 2 for 35, Martin 2 for 20, H. Dare 1 for 10, and Shand 1 for 22, two men being'run out. Pa&* roa in their sepond innings realised, 30 only. Pivott made 16, and was the only make a stand at all. F. Gibson took 5 wickets for 7 runs and Brokenshire 4 for 20, whilst Halliday

was again run out.. A full muster ofi cricket players is requested for Saturday next at a prac; tice match in the-Domain commencing at 2 p.m., when a team will be selected to journey to Thames on the following Saturday, the 14th inst.
