PLAINS VETERINARY CLUB

MEETING OF COMMITTEE. A meeting of the recently-elected committee of the Hauraki Plains Veterinary Club was held at Turua on Monday, Mr J. Whitmore in the chair. The following attended: Messrs J. H. Nicholson, B, Johnson, S. S. Murray, J.. Bailey, P. - Corbet;, and Dr. J. Jensen (organiser), and J. Gibson. Mr J. Gibson was appointed secretary for the club at a salary of £25 per year. Mr B. Johnson was deputed to confer with the sdttlers in Netherton and Awaiti districts regarding the advisability of including in the committee a member to represent Netherton district. Mr Johnson, Ht was pointed out, was representing only Awaiti. Dr. Jensen said it would be difficult to obtain a microscopic set, but ihe would loan his microscope to the club until such time as one could be obtained.

Messrs Miller and. Sons were appointed solicitors for Ithe dub. It was decided to write to a kindred body and ask for a copy of that body’s rules and formulate rules and regulations which would suit the local club. Mr Whitmore explained that he had negotiated witlh factory managements, who had been favourable to subscription orders being made put for collection on the members’ factory cheques. It was decided to write to Mr G. Buchanan (Paeroa) and to the secretaiy of the Hauraki Plains factory 'to further that matter. The veterinarian’s salary was fix- z ed al £650, with the possibilities of an increase-to £BOO if the funds were available. It was decided to call for applications in Auckland, Otago, and local papers. Messrs Whitmore, Murray, and Gibson were deputed to arrange an agreement and rules with the solicitors.

Dr. Jensen was authorised to visk Auckland and procure the necessities for the dispensary. Each member was deputed to collect the remaining £4 4s from members in his district.
