PLAINS TENNIS CLUBS.
TROPHY I’OR COMPETITION. A handsome cup has been presen: fed for competition among the tennis clubs of the Hauraki Plains by Mr Robert Laidlaw', manager of the Farmers’ Union Trading Co., Auckland. The trophy, which is a challenge cup, has been sent to Constable J. M. Devereaux, of Kerepeehi, a late member of the Auckland Tennis Club, of which Mr Laidlaw was president. It has been left to Constable Devereaux to appoint the conditions under which the cup is to be competed for, and the various clubs have, been advised that the competitions will be between ladies’ and gents’ fours, combined and singles. The .club gaining the most points will be awarded .the cup, which may be retained if won by the same club three years in succession. The matches are expected to commence as soon as arrangements have been made.
