THE NGATEA HALL.
BIG ENLARGEMENT SCHEME. A conference between the Ngatea trustees and the Hall Committee was held on Thursday evening, the following attending: Messrs G. T. Davidson (chairman), I. Macken (secretary), W. J, Clare, L. PhiUipps, and R. Bratley (committeemen), and Messrs Halliburton Johnstone, T. McClean, and T. Leonard. An apology was received from Mr W. G. Hayward. The chairman briefly outlined the desiied improvements, which included the lengthening of the hall by 40ft towards .the road, to erect ,an operating box for the cinematograph machine, arid to build a fixed stage and dressing rooms; The hall should also be painted, and 15 or 20 new seats acquired. The whole building should be properly and neatly finished off. The estimated cost of improvements would be £4OO. The financial position was also pu.t before the trustees, showing the revenue for the past eight months. After the trustees had given the matter careful consideration, Mr Clare giving some valuable information, the committee was empowered to effect the necessary improvements. The trustees also thanked the committee for the able manner in whicn the members' had attended to tilie affairs concerning the hall. The committee ’later authorised Mr Clare to control the work of improvements, and empowered him to prder any material necessary. A working bee is being organised by the Hall Committee to fill in the ground in front of| the hall, before the additions are commenced.
