A bachelor won the trousseau in a competition at, the recent bazaar at Patetonga in aid of the Hall fund. He rode in, a distance of 26 miles, next afternoon to claim his prize. If he means “business,” the report of the wedding might read :■ “The bridegroom’s gift to the bride was a magnificent trpusseau, patterned on the latest Paris and London styles.” ■ A letter has beep received by Mr T. Elliott;, storekeeper, of Waitakaruru, from the Clevedon Shipping Co., of Auckland, stating that the directors have decided to institute an experimental •service from l Auckland to Waitakaruru, possibly for a period of three months, commencing on December 1. The freight on all goods will be £1 per ton, and passengers 10s each way. The letter also stated that Captain Couldrey had offered to run the first few trips to get the service properly inaugurated. The service would be entirely dependent on tne support it received, and the company expected the Waitakaruru people to make the service well known through-' out the district. CONSTIPATION.
