Very pleasing results have been obtained in the production of the tinted whole-page pictures which are a spacial feature of the “Auckland Weekly News” Christmas number. For variety of subjects, arrangement and artistic treatment, this year’s issue has not been equalled. The quality of the paper used is, if not superior t.o, at least quite on a par with that of pre-war days. The special efforts concentrated on this year’s issue can well be claimed to have resulted in an edition de luxe which will meet with generous approval and do much in the way of advertising the scenic attractions of the Dominion. They do most things better at Home than we do in New Zealand, but the pro-, duction of the Auckland Weekly News affords ,the exception which proves the rule. Owing, it is stated, to atmospheric conditions, better colour-print- ‘ ing and photography can be done in New Zealand .than in Great Britain. Our soldiers h.eard many fine tributes paid to N.Z.. photographic and pictorial work, and Certainly it would not be possible to send a more distinctively, and at the same time charming, Ne.w Zealand reminder of old friendships than the Auckland Weekly. News. The Dominion is under a debt of gratitude to those responsible for the production of so flu»3 a work of art to represent New Zealand in every part of the Empire and beyond.
