ST. MARY'S BAZAAR.

A GBEAT SUCCESS. The above event, organised in connection wtih the fortieth anniversary of St. Mary’s, was a unique social and financial success. The various Queen Committees conducted respective stalls. Competition was keen, and not a dull moment was experienced during the whole course' of the two days. The general organisers speak highly of the generous support received, from practically all sections of the community, and they are pleased to be able to state that, in copsequence a goodly spin has been added to the Anniversary Campaign Fund.' The actual amount will be announced when the queen carnival competition is closed. The candidature of one queen in particular has been considerably advanced as a result of the bazaar.

We understand that the Farmers’ Queen is now leading by a. fair margin, and that the Sports’ and Hikutaia queens are running strong, the advantage so far being with the former. The Karangahake Queen is showing to advantage against heavy odds. The Queen Carnival closes in December, prior to the date off drawing of gold nugget and other valuable prizes. The date of crowning of the successful queen is not yet arranged. It will, however, be the grand finale to an historic campaign.
