THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto: Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 19, 1921. MEMORIAL FUND CAMPAIGN.

Having decided upon the form of memorial to be erected to the soldiers of' Paeroa and District who fell in the Great War, and the site it is to be placed upon, it now behoves every loyal citizen to sink all differences of opinion in regard to the form and site of the memorial and to battle vigorously for the /necessary funds to pay for the design chosen. It is well known that several institutions are now out after funds, or. have been recently, but the War Memorial should rightly take precedence over all other claims upon public subscriptions. The various committees have been appointed, and it is to be hoped that their efforts will be drowned with > success. Failure would mean a terribly bad reflection on the district; the money must be raised, and preferably by direct subscription, and not by any adventitious means such as concerts, etc. Within' two or three weeks at the outside the necessary funds,- a minimum' of £B5O, should be in hand, and the memorial’completed well before Anzac Day, April 25, which would be a fitting day on which to. unveil the people’s tribute of gratitude to honoured memories.
