THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto: Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. MONDAY, OCTOBER 17, 1921. AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION.

A letter from the Auckland Education Board which came before an executive meeting of the Hauraki A. and P. Association requested the Association to forward a resolution to the Government in favour of. the establishment of an agricultural college'at Ruakura. Many people desire that there should be experimental farms in several places, treating many different classes of soil. Such farms would doubtless be the means of disseminating valuable information, in respect * to hill, swamp, pumice country, etc. But an agricultural college is a vastly different thing from an experimental farm, being expensive to provide, equip, and maintain. There is only one such institution in New Zealand at the present time; namely, the Lincoln (Canterbury) Agricultural College. The Minister of Agriculture desires to establish at least one college in the North Island, and if Ruakura State Experimental Farm v ere chosen as the site it would be a fortunate thing for this district, being so near. The Hauraki A. and P. Association supported the proposal, and it is one worthy of energetic assistance along the road to fruition.
