PAEROA S.M. COURT.
DEFENCE ACT CASES; Under the Defence Act, James Collet, of Netherton, appeared before the Paeroa S.M. Court yesterday, Mr J. Salmon, S.M., presiding. Staff Sergt.-Major Patterson gave evidence that defendant was absent from four parades.
•Defendant said that though his postal ad-dress was Paeroa, he lived on the Awaiti, five miles away.—Adjourned tilli next court day, in the meantime the distance of residence to be determined.
On a similar charge Geo. Griffin was fined £1 and costs.
Exemption from parades was granted in the cases of George Albert Sykes (Hikutaia) and A. D. Burkhardt (Wharepba), neither application being opposed by the Defence Department.
