BUSINESS MEN'S ASSOCIATION.
FORMED IN PAEROA. After a number of preliminary meetings of the “■moving spirits,” a well-attended general meeting of P.aeroa business men was. held on Monday evening to discuss the question of forming a businessmen’s association. Mr ; W. D. Nicholas presided. After -
Dull discussion Mr W. D. Nicholas moved that an association be formed, to be called "The Paeroa Business Men’s Association.”
Mr W. J. Towers seconded, stating ■that such a body was needed, and he hoped it would wprk harmoniously for the good of its members and the general community.—Carried. The rules of the Tauranga, Ngaruawahia, and Waiuku associations were examined, and rules based on them adopted.
Oh the motion of Mr A l . G. Cottrell, seconded by Mr T. E. McMillan, the commissioner form of government was adopted, the commissioner, being an official acting under instructions from ithe executive,
The following executive was appointed : Messrs F. J. Wells, A. G. Cottrell, J. W. Brocket, T., H.. Hale, W. D. Nicholas.
The chairman thanked the meeting for their attendance, and hoped that the Association would wprk in harmony for the good of the town. A meeting of the executive was held subsequently, -Mr A.. G. Cottrell being elected to the chair. '
After discussion, it was decided Io appoint Mr Jas. Couper as commissioner.
