WAIHI GRAND JUNCTION. PAST MONTH’S- RETURN. The Waihi Grand Junction Goll Company, during the period ended September 3, crashed 6360 tons for a return of 14990 z of gold and 3344pz of silver. In the corresponding period of last year the return from 6100 tons was bullion worth £9172 15s. The following information has been cabled to the head office of the company in London: No. 4 Level, Mary Lode : Breaking out from 630 to 685 ft east, the average width of reef is 59in, and .-the value £3 Is 9d per ten ; the walls are exposed. No. 5 Level, Mary Lode: The east ■ drive has been extended to 976 f t; from 945 ft to 965 ft the average width is 36in, aod the value 17s lid per .ton ; the walls are exposed. No. 6 Level, Mary Lode • The east drive has been extended to 1080 f t; from 1045 ft to 1065 ft the average width is 50in, and the value- £1 4s Id per ton. Frdm 1065 ft to 1080 ft the average width is 36in, and the value 10s 7d per ton ; the walls are exposed. , No. J Level, Empire Lode : No. 7 rise has been holed to the winze from No. 8 level. Np. 9 Level, Empire Lode : The east drive has been advanced .to 24 ft. From the southeast crosscut to 19ft the averagewidth is 56in, and the value £1 2s 6d per ton. The south wall is exposed. No. 9 Level, Empire Lode: The west drive has been advanced 30ft. From the south-east crosscut to 24ft the average width is 53in, and the value £2 4s 8d per ton. The south wall is exposed. 1 MINE MANAGERS’ REPORTS. Evening Star. —The drive west of No. 1 winze on the Waiotahi-Cambria reef is now put 9ft from the winze. The total width of reef exposed is 4ft 6in. The footwall is showing, and is the best cl of country that has so far been met with. The ore is heavily, mineralised, and showing good colours of gold. The drive east lias been advanced 4ft through the reef. The ore is hard and is heavily mineralised. The winze on Bird’s leader is dpwn 21ft. A portion of the leader was broken down during the week, showing colours of gold, but no picked stone was selected. Ohinemuri. — The Silverstream crosscut is jiow out 650 ft. The country continues to be very favourable. St. Hippo.—The drive north-east on the St. Hippo reef has been advanced a further 7ft. The country is much firmer, and several nice leaders are crossing the face, ranging from 3in down. The stone looks well. The hanging-wall portion of the reef has beem taken down, and maintains a favourable appearance. Horseshoe.—The drive is now ir. 149 ft. The reef is maintaining its size of about 2ft- 6in, carrying a goo-1 percentage of mineral. The general appearance of the reef and country-is very encouraging, wi:h .a lot of water still coming through the ore body. The f rend of the i)eef is still northerly. The country is becoming much firmer, with the reef more consolidated.
