REPORTS OF * COMMITTEES;
The following reports were submitted to the Paeroa Borough Council on Thursday night—x / FINANCE. Your committe beg to report that during the month the revenue has been £603 0s lid and ‘expenditure ,£692; Is Bd. Including the attached accounts which your committee recommend for payment, the bank overdraft on the district fund account will amount to '£B67 17s lid. This sum included .transfers amounting tp approximately ££soo to the 1920 Loan Account to meet sewerage expenditure. WORKS FOREMAN. During the month 78 yards of metal chips have been received from Tirohia Quarry. Most of this metal has been put on the Puke Road and the balance lias been used to path the following streets : Rye Lane,' Ar-' ney Street, Queen Street, Esplanade, and Railway Street. A further sevcji and a half yards of screenings 1 <ve come to hand, dnd this has been used for patching the main s.tree*-. Junction Street, and William Street. The pipes to replace Buchanan’s Bridge have come to hand and are now' on the site. I am calling application for the cleaning of the drain nearby, which I hope will be let in a day or two. I Would like to have your committee's advice on Coronation Street, as the metal. ordered from Silcock’s quarry is now ready to be put wh ) c required. The scvreenings for the Te footpath'have not yet come to hand, but they will be spread on arrival.
Re Domain Improvements.—With the assistance of Cr. Marshall I /have inspected and measured up the domain and consider that the approximate cost of piping, filling, ploughing, levelling, moving fences, ai^d’ making new tennis courts will amount to £4OO.
Re Willoughby Street.—For forming and metalling four chains according to plan between Victoria Street and Thorp Street, £ll4 ; forming road 18 feet wide and, metalling s,ame up to permanent level, £46*; formation only, £lB. —No • action tp be taken in regard to the latter item?. SANITATION. The Sanitary Committee' met on July 25th last to consider applications for the sanitary contract. There were two applicants, and the committee unanimously agreed to appoint Mr W. Denton on the terms as specified in the schedule of contract. The Sanitary Committee m,et on September Bth, 1921. The matter of the accounts of Mr Olsen and the Borough were considered and your committee unanimously agreed to refund Mr Olsen’s deposit and to charge 10s , per week for hire of the flpat. Since Mr Denton commenced his duties two months ago his work has given every satisfaction.
