WEDDING AT PAEROA.

UNDERWOOD—BROOKS.

On Wednesday last, in the Salvation Array Hall, the marriage cf Mr V/ N. Underwood and Miss A. M. Bropks was solemnised by Colonel Carmichael, of Christchurch. The hall had been very tastefully decorated for the purpose, and' was crowded with friends of the contracting pa,tries. The bridegroom was supported by his brother, Mr Gordon Underwood, Miss Lily McDonald acted as bridesmaid, Miss Lorna z Brooks, flower-girl, and Mr Brooks, father of the oridc, gave her aw.ay.

As is pustomary at Salvation Army weddings, the participants wore full Salvation Army uniform, the blue serge costumes of the bride and bridesmaid being relieved by white sashes, and each carried a white Bible with streamers. After the religious portion of the ceremony the registers were signed in view of the congregation, after which Colonel Carmichael gave good counsel and the fathers of the bride and bridegroom spoke. The service concluded with the singing of “All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name.” Afterward-in the Returned Soldiers’ Hall the guests were entertained by Mr and Mrs Brooks. The tables were beautifully arranged, the whole scheme of decoration for both the hall and tables being heliotrope and white. After the breakfast speeches were given' by Colonel Carmichael, Mrs Commandant Sansom, Captain Sam. Smith, Captain Thompson, Ser-geant-Major Le Manquais, Mr Alien, of Rotorua, also the parents of the bride and bridegroom. The bridegroom responded on behalf of himself and the bride, and the best man op behalf of himself and the bridesmaid. A large number of telegrams had been received and were read by the best man. The happy couple left by the evening train for Auckland, where the honeymoon is to be spent. A large number of valuable andjiseful presents were received by Mr and Mrs Underwood, who will reside in Wellington.
