WAIKINO NOTES.

(“Gazette” Correspondent.) On Thursday last the 21 st annual grand ball of the Waitekauri and Golden Cross Lodge, Manchester Unity Order of Oddfellows, took place in the Victoria Hall. There were over 200 present, including brethren from Wai hi, Paeroa, and Karan gahak.e. The Grand Lodge officers of New Zealand present were : District Grand Master Br.o. C. Tyke ; District Deputy-Grand Master Bro. W. Neels ; District Grand Secretary Bro. J. McLeod; District Grand Treasurer Bro. J. Clark.

The hall was beautifully decorated. The M.’C were Bros. Steve Morgan and C. Whitehouse, who fulfilled their duties to the great satisfaction of all present. The function commenced at 8 p.m. with a grand inarch, in which all took part, and led by the Grand Secretary, Bro. J. McLeod and Mrs Cochrane. The Waihi Lodge was represented by Bro. D. G. Saunders, P.P.G.M., and the Waikino Lodge, _ Ancient Order of Druids, by Bro, Geo. Bell, P.A., and secretary. A euchre tourname.nt also took place for two valuable prizes. The winners were’Mrs P. Shaw (lady’-) and Mr A. Southberg (gentleman’s), ,the judges being Messrs Cochrane and G. Collins. At 11 pan. the adjournment for supper was made, and during the different sittings the extras were played by Miss Higgs (Waihi), Miss J. Shaw, and Messrs Cater and Hollis. The orchestra in attendance were Messrs C. Cater (piano), R. Secular (violin), Geo. Henry (cornet), -Ar Stapleton (bass), and T. G. Measures (drums, bells, and effects).

The function finished at 1-30 a.m
