THE Hauraki Plains Gazette With which is incorporated THE OHINEMURI GAZETTE. Motto: Public Service. MONDAY, WEDNESDAY, & FRIDAY. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 24, 1921. THE LARGER VIEW.

Both at Hamilton and at Paeroa annual meetings of dairy suppliers it was very noticeable that much time was taken up in (discussing minor matters which could have been better dealt with by the respective local committees. The result in each case was that the time was occupied over a lot of petty affairs and the leaders of the New Zealand Cooperative Dairy Co., Ltd., were unable to treat the suppliers to adequate discourses on such important topics as the state of the overseas .market, the world-fac-tors affecting prices, and ways and means of overcoming u the drawback of unduly high freights. It is known that the leaders in the dairying business have interesting views on these topics, and could expound them at some length if they had the opportunity when facing a large audience, but when hours are spent in the asking and answering of a host of small questions the larger issues have to be left alone. A broader outlook and higher plane of discussion at annual meetings would tend greatly to increase their interest and value. Annual meetings of any concern whatsoever should deal with the most important matters only, such as would hold the interest of the intelligent and broad-minded portion of the audience, and we would then see less of that wearied look and gradual dwindling away of many of those present before the conclusion of the meeting.
