OHINEMURI ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

COMMITTEE MEETING. A committee meeting of the above society was held on Friday evening last. The president, Mr Arch. White, presided, those present being J. Morrison, J. L. Hanna, R. Guy, JO’Brynne, and .the secretary, D. Leach. LIBERATION OF TROUT FRY. A letter, was received from the Auckland society acknowledging receipt of application for fry, and stating that Ohinemuri would get liberal consideration when 'the allocation was made. Messrs A. White and D.. Leach were empowered to arrange distribution of fry on arrival, pobably at the end of September. • , PHEASANTS. The president stated that Mr E. J. Walters, of Hikutaia, who offered to rear some birds for the society, had applied for two hens and a cock pheasant. As the birds were wanted at once he conferred with the secretary and ,they decided to order them from Aratapu Game Farm at once. This action was endorsed by the meeting. z Mr O’Bryhrie said he idd not approve of birds being liberated on farms where the. owners did not assist the society. In ‘some cases the genuine sportsmen who paid for the birds were refused right of way, while the owners shot the pheasants without even requiring a license. ' The committee agreed that steps would have to be taken to overcome this difficulty. ' - ' THAMES VALLEY SOCIETY. The formation of a separate-society which was brought up at the last annual meeting was discussed. The president stated that" a movement was afoot at Hamilton to form a Waikato society. He suggested a .conference with .the Hamilton sportsmen so as to prevent overlapping. The president, secretary, and Mr J. L. Hanna were appointed for this purpose, and will arrange 'to meet the Hamilton sportsmen next week, if possible.
