Mails for Australia, per* “Makura,” close at the Paeroa post office on Thursday, August 25, ait 4.30 p.m.
Mr Fur,ley, on behalf of the Paeroa Cricket Club, has communicated witn the Waihi, Thames, and Morrinsville Clubs to ascertain their views on forming a district Cricket Association this coming season. It is to b ; hoped that an association will eventuate, as it will foster great interest in cricket and will assure the clubs of plenty of matches.
A monster euchre tournament is announced between Paeroa and Hikutaia. The prize is the handsome Maori carved table now on view, at the Farmers’ Union Trading Company, and given by Dr. Liston, Bishop of Auckland. The first, game is to be played at Hikutaia on Thursday next, and the second at Paeroa -on Tuesday, 30th inst, and the winner at each place will then meet and play off. Miss Shaw has consented 'to supervise the tournament.
