Electric Milking Machinery: The first machine to be erected in this district with electric motive power has recently been installed for Mr H. Henton, Paeroa, by the Paeroa Engineering Co., Ltd. Several other machines are being installed on similar lines in various parts of the district,
Suburbs and West Seniors played ■the final match <in the Senior Club competitions on Saturday, the former winning by 3-points to 0.. By winning this game Suburbs hold tne cup for this, season.
JUNIORS.
EAST DEFEAT NETHFRTON.
East Juniors met Netherton at Netherton on Saturday last in the’ final game of the Junior Club competitions, and after h vejry hard game had a victory by five to nil, The result of this match puts Netherton and East level, necessitating a play-off. The weather conditions were anything but agreeable, but the game throughout was good 'to watch. Steady rain set in at half-time, compelling both teams to make it a forward game. Nethqrton were heavier and had the advantage in the close work, but the tables were turned in the loose. The members of both packs played well. W. Richmond was an excellent full-back for Netherton, and Majurey did some good work in ‘he open, bu,t was not- a success as halfback. Moore and Morgan shone out in the East backs, and Haskell and Smith played well. Immediately following the -return from the kick-off Fisher, was penalis-* ed for being offside, and East found the line. From the throw-in Moore sent through to Netherton bdeks, .who found the line. Loose forw.ard play followed, the home team slowly malting ground. A hard kic>£, however, sent jbhe ball oyer and East forced. The forwards then had a lengthy struggle on the half-way line. Netherton backs finally getting possession. An exchange of kicks eventuated which terminated with Vuglar getting offside. Fisher failed with his kick at goal. Netherton returned the kick- • opt, and kept play inside East’s twen-ty-five foi’ the remainder of the quarter. Just before changing over Netherton forwards made a determined rush right up to the posts, but Vuglar got down to it and saved for E'ast. - East forwards followed up the opening kick in the second round and took right down the field, -Netherton just saving by finding, the line near the corner’ flag. The ball was sent over from the line-out and Netherton forced. After some loose play in neutral territory which resulted in Netherton’s favour Morgan relieved. The home team returned to the attacs, bu,t Moore got possession and got away and carried play to the other end of the field, a scrum following on Netherton’s line. The defending forwards pushed through with the ball, and a dangerous loose forward rush was again stopped by Moore. A number of kicks then took place, ending with East carrying down to the line, the ball going out in touch. Loose play in midfield was indulged in till just before half-time, when Netherton forwards took down and sent over, East forcing.
The second half opened with hard play, the advantage going to the home pack on account of their weight. Netherton carried the ball right to East’s line, and things looked bad for the defenders, but over-eagerness at the criticpl moment on the part of Netherton gave East a penalty kick, which relieved the situation.. Play swung to the other .end of the field, and Rae had an unsuccessful shot a! goal.. Netherton followed up the kick-out, and another period of tight play close to East’s line took place, Rae eventually relieving with a long kick down-field. East forwards carried down to Netherton’s line, and after a short struggle the ball was sent over, several players on boln sides diving for it’. After separating the mix-up the referee gave it a force. East opened the final round with an attack and quickly took down to the home team’s line. Netherton force 1. From the kick-out play went to the Visitors’ end of .the field, and Majurey took a good mark in front of tlie posts. The kick was a failure, however, and after a little tight plav Haskell marked and relieved. East sent down by a succession of kicks, and Netherton forced. The ball wasreturned to Nether,ton’s territory, and after some hot work the defendeis cleared to the half-way flag. It was only a momentary relief, however, for East took back again from the lineout. A great struggle then took place, the ball eventually shooting out into the open. Morgan dashed up'and kicked over and scored. Rae added two more points with a splendid goal. Time was called soon afterwards, the game ending East 5, Netherton 0. Mr W. Bryden was referee.
INTER-UNION MATCHES.
PIAKO V.- PAEROA. Next Saturday the Inter-union fixtures will be gone on with. The Piako senior representatives will meet the local senior team and the Paeroa junior representative team will journey to Te Aroha to play the Piako juniors. Following are the players selected to represent Paeroa :
